May Recap (Art and otherwise...)

Happy last day of the month!! Why does it feel like May has simultaneously been the longest month of my life but also the shortest? This one genuinely put me through the ringer for what felt like ages but looking back on it--- realistically it was just me losing my mind for like a week and a half. Time is weird. Anyway, let's talk about what went down. Art wise, we completed TWO pieces! (but realistically one of them is the kind of "completed" where I still may go in and edit it later...) Those were of course firstly the funky skull:

This is the one that's probably going to be in a permanent "where do I go with this?" state. I like him when I look at him some days, but other days I will say for sure he needs something more. I'll figure it out sometime--- or I won't! Both are okay. I think learning to be okay with the fact that sometimes something you're working on is just tapped out is important... because who knows, if I eventually grow to not like this particular version, I can always just draw it again. Next up is the piece I did that was inspired by my visit to the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, OH:

I think she's cute, colorful and clunky. I'm particularly proud of the figure and the wings. This one is for sure done, but looking at it now I could see myself revisiting it eventually as well because I think it would be nice to push the background a bit more--- maybe in a less chunky style and instead bringing it back to how dainty everything else in the piece feels. We also started working on a few kitchen litho pieces that aren't quite done, but I wanted to include them because the pieces could stand on their own and truthfully damnit making the plates is hard so we're celebrating the win:

I'm really excited to keep working on these by the way... hoping to see some progress maybe later this week. :) Craft wise, I made my super cool windchime/bird feeder situation out of an old bird cage I had and a buncha beads:

I've loved having this in my backyard--- it sounds pretty, looks pretty and for sure lures the birds/squirrels so it's been fun to have around. Just my fun chaos project. I'm looking forward to kind of refining my work flow so I have more time for stuff like this because y'all don't understand how fun it was to just turn my brain off and slap stuff together, haha. Excluding some of the digital art that I've been practicing with, and my journal spreads--- that's pretty much it for this month. Five entire things is a big deal! Especially because we're jumping to this from almost no things! I hope that you also felt like you had a productive month and don't play down your accomplishments. :) When I wasn't making art or a silly craft, I was actually spending a lot of time getting back into things I enjoy. My husband has been really into fighting games recently, and it brought me back into them as well--- so naturally I've been keeping him humble by kicking his ass at Mortal Kombat. When we aren't beefing, we've been seeing a lot of really good movies lately--- Project Hail Mary and Obsession are two of the sweeter ones! (Eventually I'll read PHM, but I have such a long TBR as is...) We've been making it a point to explore more of where we live as well, and actually finally got to cross off one of the restaurants we've been interested in--- revolving sushi!
It was soooo good--- and so fun! We'll for sure be going back at some point because this time we mostly tackled sushi and desserts--- but they have ramen here too that I'm super interested in trying out as well.
I think ultimately May is just the month that shook my brain back into place finally.
I know what I'm about... and it's NOT trying to squeeze in a meaningful life before and after work at a minimum wage job. I think I'm making moves to live more slowly and intentionally again, and I hope I get there.
I'll let you know how it goes.
What did y'all do this month?
Make anything? Do anything cool? Fill a girl in.
